Cost of an opportunity

If there is something which I would want to say after my great fall, I would say I lost the wonderful opportunities I had. How and why are not the questions; as those are out of the current scenario. Now why exactly did I fall is of no importance. What is important is that I was destined to fall, just like everybody else. The only difference being I fell before others did. So what now? I never ask questions like these. My job is to go on with the situation. But being a handicap is not an easy job at all. You lose too many things which you never realize. You lose an opportunity or may be many. So who is going to pay for it? Obviously, you only; because it was yourself who ultimately took the decision that led to your fall.

So how are going to do about it now. Sit and cry? No way, cause it will not yield any solutions. There are bigger things coming your way now and you need to be ready for them. People will say that you should lean and rest, but where is the rest in this fast paced life. You may not be able to bring back the opportunities you lost, but can’t afford to lose the ones forthcoming. And if you do, probably your life may change drastically in a way you could never imagine. And people who will give advices will never do anything about it, because they have their own selfishness in their places.

So is it advisable to lose opportunities, I wouldn’t say so.

Lifeliness vs Liveliness

Often when we see around we would find people and people. Confused? Well yes, you read it correct. And that’s exactly what I mean. You have often heard that the world is always following the binary system to a large extent. Except from some minor differences, we can categorize the people in two categories for example, rich and poor, intelligent and dumb, arrogant and humble, soft and rude etc. But the point of discussion is not this. We are going to see a larger picture. How often have we wondered that we live in a nature, so rich that we really don’t need to think about anything? Of course I am not Adam who is all alone in this world, neither are you. We have a large crowd facing us; who is very much different from us. Then why are we so common! It’s like we are waiting for something bigger to happen. Believe me nothing is going to happen. Then why don’t you think about bringing the change?

Of course transformation was never easy. But the one who transformed not only changed their lives but of many others. Vladimir Lenin, George Washington, Isaac Newton, Albert Einstein are few such names. They all belonged to a humble background, but they achieved what others didn’t expect for them to achieve. The point here is not everyone is born genius; they became genius in their lives. Because they felt the essence of their lives is to bring upon the change they desired from their environment. How can you develop this trait? Of course you need to experiment positively with your life. You need to feel it, experience it and then infer how to change it. We often don’t do it and blame others for our mistakes. We always ask the question why me; we never say why not me. Instead we always wait for some messiah to come and rescue us. But who is the actual messiah, he is one amongst us; not someone extraordinary. He comes out of the same societies where we belong. Then why is he so different? That is because he knows the difference between living and surviving. We are all mere survivors, but we have the potential of transforming to the other binary level. It’s all hidden inside the mind. Unleash it and see how powerful you can become. Then you will definitely not like the lifely way; instead you will choose the lively way.

What exactly is winning?

From all the scenarios I have faced in my life, I only got one thing. The life is only about winning. Be it winning hearts or scores or friends or grades or ratings; all things which are quantitative. But have we ever tried to think about anything like winning qualitatively. For ex- A doctor who is successful in saving the life of a patient at the cost of amputating his leg. Could it be considered as a win? Of course we will say that he could not save his leg and that person would have to limp for the rest of his life. He may not be able to work or do his daily chores properly. Ok point taken; now consider a situation where this guy was a clerk who spends most of his hours checking papers in his office and was the sole bread earner in his family of five. Now what will be your perception? Couldn't it be considered as a win from the doctor's point of view that he was able to save a man, whose life was crucial for his family? Even though he lost his leg, but he can still manage it. The same is the case with us. We never go deep beneath the superficial things and pay attention to minute details and consider a victory to be the final achievement.

One important case from the history was of Franklin D Roosevelt and his immediate successor Harry S Truman. In the year 1944, America entered the Second World War. Within months with the help of Britain and Soviets, they were able to defeat the Nazis. All this happened because Franklin D Roosevelt had said "We have nothing to fear except for the fear itself". Within months of the Pearl Harbor attack, Americans rose to his call and contributed their heart and wealth out to his cause. A nation which was far way behind the Germans on the technological front was able to win back vast amount of territories like North Africa, France, Italy from its control. This is called a win situation. On the other hand, in 1945; America did bring an end to the World War when President Truman gave the green signal to drop the atom bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Could it be considered as a victory? At the cost of millions of innocent lives?

When we quantify victory; why do we often fail to qualify the same? Why the human mind is always trapped in numbers? We appreciate the toppers and the runner-ups. But why can’t we appreciate an average student getting wonderful marks? That’s also a victory; a victory over his average condition. When the human mind will start appreciating this thing I believe we won’t be dealing with wins and losses any more.
